The process

How trademark registration works

From a first clearance search to a registered trademark — and keeping it protected afterwards — here is the end-to-end process, step by step. One team handles every stage across the EU and 15 national offices.

  1. 01
    Clear your brand

Order a clearance search so you file knowing the real risk of identical and similar earlier marks — not after a refusal or opposition.

  2. 02
    Choose your route

Decide between a single EU trademark covering all 27 EU countries and national filings in the markets that matter. We recommend the most cost-effective mix.

  3. 03
    Prepare and file

We confirm the applicant, classify and word your goods and services, and file the application with the relevant office.

  4. 04
    Examination

The office checks the application against its rules. If it raises an objection (an office action), we assess the grounds and respond.

  5. 05
    Publication and opposition

Accepted applications are published, opening a window in which third parties can oppose. Watching helps you spot conflicts the other way too.

  6. 06
    Registration

With no successful opposition, the mark registers and we send you the certificate. Your rights run for 10 years.

  7. 07
    Renew and watch

We track your renewal deadline and can monitor new filings for conflicts, so your protection stays in force and enforced.

Before you file

Why the search comes first

Most avoidable problems — refusals on relative grounds, oppositions, forced rebrands — trace back to a mark that was never cleared. A clearance search surfaces identical and similar earlier marks so you decide with the facts, before any official fees are spent.

After you register

Keeping protection in force

A registration lasts 10 years and can be renewed indefinitely. We track your renewal deadline and can run watching to flag conflicting new filings while there is still time to act.
